Castellón de la Plana(Spanish name) Castelló de la Plana (Catalan name):
is the capital of one of the most mountainous provinces in Spain, yet bathed by the Mediterranean along its 112 km of coastline the mild climate of the coastal regions owes much to the sea and the protection from cold northwest winds provided by the mountain spurs of the Desert de les Palmes. These two factors have a decisive influence on the city's mean annual temperature of 17°C.

Traveling to Castellon:
The airport of Valencia ("Manises") has direct flights to most important cities. The airport is located 10 km. from the city of Valencia. A taxi from the airport to the centre of the city should cost €15 approx. There is a very good connection between Valencia ("Estacion del norte") and Castellon (a train every single hour).

Another possibility is flying to Barcelona, which is 290 km's. north of Castellon. The international airport of Barcelona ("El Prat") is bigger than Manises and is better connected to international destinations. There are also a number of trains each day from Barcelona to Castellon.

Car and Bus The national route N-340 and the A-7 motorway connect Castellón de la Plana with major cities in the north and south. The N-232 from Vinaros to Zaragoza links the coastal towns to the interior of the peninsula. Bus companies serve the province and link with national and
Car hire is available form most airports and of course is cheap if a group of people are traveling.
